This is ultimately determined by the number of DisplayPort video lanes that the manufacturer has routed internally to the Thunderbolt 3 port. Some systems support two displays via a single Thunderbolt 3 port (such as all Apple Thunderbolt 3 systems) while other systems may only support one display via a single Thunderbolt 3 port. ![]() The Thunderbolt 3 standard can support up to two displays, however manufacturers have discretion when designing their systems as to how many displays are supported via a single Thunderbolt 3 port.
